Transportation

  • DEPART

Today we board our flight to Germany. Enjoy a complimentary breakfast and dinner aboard your international flight.

  • Welcome to Germany

Upon arrival at Munich airport, you will be greeted by your tour guide and driver. Transfer to your hotel to unpack and relax for the evening. Enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow pilgrims.

  • Munich

Today’s sightseeing of Germany’s “Secret Capital” will include visits to the Olympic Stadium, built for the 1972 Olympics; the 1,000 foot high Olympic Tower; and Königsplatz, used for Nazi rallies during World War II. Drive along the Ludwigstrasse, and see the Bavarian Arch of Triumph and Field Marshall Hall. Also visit lively Marienplatz with the Old and the New Town Halls and the gothic Frauenkirche.

  • Oberammergau

Today, the day is primarily dedicated to the world-famous Passion Play, the centerpiece of our pilgrimage trip. In 1633 the Oberammergau villagers promised to perform the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ every tenth year, if no one was to die of the plague anymore, which raged in many parts of Europe. The villagers were answered by God and therefore in 1634 the first Passion Play took place. The promise has been kept ever since.

  • Munich - Poland

Today we board our flight to Poland. Upon arrival at Warsaw airport, you will be greeted by your tour guide and driver. Transfer to your hotel to unpack and take a moment to settle in. Today we visit the Market Square, Old Town, the Barbican, Lazienki Park, the Chopin Statue, the Warsaw Ghetto Monument, and the Royal Castle. We take what is left of the day to relax and reflect.

  • Czestochowa - Wadowice

We make our way to the shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa. We will have mass at Jasna Gora Monastery where the picture of the Black Madonna is located. The monastery has a pilgrimage tradition that goes back to the 14th-century. St. Pope John Paul II was known to make frequent visits to the monastery throughout his life. We continue en route to Zakopane, with a stop along the way in Wadowice, the birthplace of Karol Wojtyla (St. Pope John Paul II) and tour the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help he attended and was baptized as a child.

  • Zakopane - Wieliczka

In the village of Zakopane, we will take a cable car ride to the nearby mountaintop for an extraordinary view of the countryside. We will visit the Jaszczorowka Chapel in Zakopane which had been visited several times by young Karol Wojtyla (St. Pope John Paul II), as it lies on the walking paths where he often finished his walks for prayer and reflection. We then make our way to colorful Krupowki Street for some last minute shopping in its local bazaar. In the afternoon, we will also stop at the amazing Wieliczka Salt Mines, the oldest salt mine in Europe. Now a UNESCO site, it serves as a museum and contains an impressive display of galleries and salt works.

  • Krakow - Auschwitz - Krakow

After breakfast, we explore Krakow's Market Square and hear the silver trumpet of the bugler from St. Mary's Tower. The surroundings of the square have remained unchanged for almost 700 years and contain buildings of historic value such as the Town Hall Tower, the Cloth Hall and the burgher's houses. We will tour the Cathedral, Coronation Chapel and the Royal Chambers where a superb collection of Arras tapestries are on display. We visit the Cathedral and pray before the extraordinary Wit Stwosz altar. In the afternoon, we will visit Auschwitz, the notorious Nazi concentration camp where unspeakable atrocities occurred. We will see the cell that imprisoned St. Maximillian Kolbe and the Martyrdom Museum recalling the horrors of the Holocaust. We return to our hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Krakow – Divine Mercy – Lagiewniki - Krakow

We depart for our day's excursion to Lagiewniki, the capital of the Divine Mercy. It was here that the message of the Divine Mercy originated, which Christ himself wished to pass on to generation of Catholics through the mediation of St. Faustina. The Sanctuary houses working images of the Merciful Jesus and the relics of St. Faustina. As we view the Shrine of Divine Mercy we will see St. Faustina's convent chapel and her tomb. We will visit the newly constructed Shrine of Divinity dedicated by St. Pope John Paul II on his last visit to Poland in 2002. We celebrate mass at the Shrine before we visit the new center "Have no Fear" where we pray by the relic of St. Pope John Paul II. We will have time to pray and reflect.

  • DEPART
